Dallas Morning News Highlights Martin Baughman’s String of IVC Filter Jury Verdicts
Dallas Morning News reporter Marin Wolf recently highlighted the Martin Baughman trial team’s string of four jury verdicts across the country on behalf of individuals injured by defective IVC blood filters. In “Dallas law firm’s combined verdicts top $7 million in series of blood clot filter lawsuits,” Wolf describes how the firm embarked on a blistering trial schedule in 2021.
Martin Baughman, which represents several hundred patients who experienced injuries caused by the defective filters, has won four out of six personal injury lawsuits since May, with the largest verdict netting $3.3 million.
In the latest case, decided July 21, jurors found that Bard’s Recovery IVC filter caused serious complications when the device fractured after being implanted in plaintiff Debra Branch. The verdict includes $386,250 in damages.
“Once again, jurors have heard the facts and agreed that these filters are dangerous,” said Martin Baughman partner Laura Baughman. “After recklessly marketing these products and placing profit over safety, it’s time for Bard to acknowledge how risky they are.”
